Creative writing at SpeakingMinds is designed for the child who says "I don't know what to write". We break writing into small, teachable parts — hook, character, setting, conflict, close — and get every child writing every class. Not for marks, for joy.
The programme complements our speaking classes: children who can write well can also speak well, because they've already practised structuring an idea from start to finish. It runs weekly at both NIBM Annexe and Kondhwa.
How is creative writing different from school English?
School English mostly tests writing (marks, corrections). Our creative writing classes teach writing — how to actually generate ideas, structure them, and enjoy the process. Kids leave loving writing, which is what school marks eventually reward too.
What age group is creative writing suitable for?
From Grade 1 upwards. Younger children start with picture-prompt writing and simple stories. Older students move to longer-form essays, poetry, and even competition-style writing.
Do creative writing classes help with school marks in English?
Almost always. Better writing structure and vocabulary directly improves essay marks, comprehension answers and expression sections. Multiple parents have reported letter-grade jumps within one term.
What are the fees for creative writing classes at SpeakingMinds?
Fees are ₹1,500 per month, paid term-wise. Includes one weekly 60-minute class in a small batch of 20–22 students.
